Following the highly regarded limited release 12" for Directions' first single “Have You Felt This Way Before”, this time around, "Busted Trees" receives the remix treatment by Detroit legend Carl Craig for yet another pre-album 12” release…
A1 – C’s Spacetrumental
Opening with Chantal Thompson’s haunting vocals and an electronic hi-hat, things quickly move toward an old school Detroit house groove. Master Carl Craig graces us with a heavy rework that increases the tension with each stab of HUGE strings. This is an undeniable monster that simply transcends genre…househeads, tech-heads, soul heads alike have given the nod and we haven’t really let the cat out of the bag!
B1 – Original Album Mix
Directions’ second outing demonstrates yet again their mastery of space and emotion. A tightly woven groove straddles Chantal’s vocals with Benji’s horn lines punctuated throughout…this isn’t a traditional groove pocket like one might expect but it’s most definitely one of the bands favourites and we felt it essential to share.
B2 – Middlefield remix
Built off the back of the band’s original, newcomers, the Woon-Fat brothers, deliver some very welcome bottom end and lush sonic flesh …
