deepBASIC / diaspora
context
The audible environment is high-velocity and high-noise. Patterns recur. Tools accelerate repetition.
deepBASIC is an operating system tuned to detect usable mass within this environment, extract it, and recompile it into structured signal.
architecture
The system has two layers:
- deepBASIC — active layer. Real-time construction of work from base parameters: time, tone, mass, resonance, pressure, space.
- diaspora — archive layer. Static, read-only storage accessed via legacy_emulator. Retrieval only. No write operations.
The archive provides reference stability for forward operations.
inputs
Input type is irrelevant. Only the signal’s functional properties register. Emergent behaviours receive priority weight. Repetitive or derivative behaviours are deprioritized.
extraction loop
deepBASIC operates as a chron routine. Core loop:
- SCAN. Detect rhythmic / harmonic / timbral anomalies.
- CLASSIFY. Label behaviours as structural elements (non-genre).
- ISOLATE. Suppress non-contributing data until the element's property is exposed.
- DEPLOY. Compile new work using element configurations and formats.
emulator / remote archive
The emulator is a controlled interface to the diaspora archive. It displays signal, credits, and provenance for each stored asset.
Interference events during uplink are expected. When the display shows standby, db_core has resumed primary control and is prioritising live material.
practice
deepBASIC assets are compact system states: limited track count, minimal surface area, and clear element definitions. Designed for long-term archival integrity.
- Traceability. All contributors are named, registered, and traceable.
- Single source. One source-of-truth per asset. Multiple output formats are views of the same data.
- Format by requirement. Physical artifacts are created only when the signal requires a tangible anchor.
acknowledgements
deepBASIC (and Diaspora before it) incorporates historical inputs from many operators: producers, engineers, visual artists, selectors, dancers, shops, and distribution networks.
